Great article, Michael! It’s a really complex topic and I’d be curious to read how and why you decided to become a UX manager. From my experience, I transitioned to UX management because I’d never had a manager with a background in design and felt that too many processes and ideas were misunderstood, undervalued and deprioritized (let alone be included in the wider business strategy, which obviously always revolves around customers/users generating revenue). However, it’s a really individual thing, and I don’t think it’s a default path for any UX professional because it requires a different skillset than a UX designer job and not everyone would be happy in this role.
